My car’s GPS has settings like “avoid motorways”, “fastest route”, and “avoid tolls”. I wish there were one called “don’t make me think”, that works out the cognitive load of a journey and how tired it will make me. It would favour straight roads, towns I have been to often, fewer turns, and no spaghetti junctions. I notice I make this kind of choice myself most of the time even when the GPS suggests a more complex path, because I’m trying to minimise decision fatigue.
I don’t suppose this exists, does it? Perhaps it deserves a Replit experiment.
